SEOs Outing Other SEOs – WTF?

Apparently SEOs publicly outing other SEOs has again become sort of a hot topic. IMHO, this is WEAK and totally uncalled for in almost every case I’ve ever come across. What am I talking about?

Rand Fishkin over at SEOmoz wrote an accusatory post about an SEO company called National Positions after he found that they earned the Top Ranking in Google for the key-phrase “seo company” (no quotes). NOW, this might have been just the hook (linkbait) that Rand needed to pimp his new Linkscape tool, in which case his clever plan worked, otherwise it’s just a pathetic attempt to quell the success of a previously unknown competitor.

Shortly following Rand’s post, Aaron Wall over at SEOBOOK, wrote a rebuttal, which in turn calls out Rand on his post. Normally I try to lay low on this type of conversation because most of the time what I want to say has already been said. There’s no reason to repeat what’s already been said. This time, however, was different and I was in the MOOD to vent.

This is what I had to say on the topic of SEOs publicly outing other SEOs over on SEOBOOK.
